For centuries, vinegar has been used as a menstruum to extract and preserve the medicine plants, creating preparations that can easily become part of a home apothecary. Together, we will explore what makes vinegar such an effective herbal solvent and how to use it to create nourishing herbal preparations at home. We will cover traditional vinegar-based extractions, learning the methods behind each and how they can be incorporated into your own herbal practice.
During the hands-on portion of the workshop, we will be making the beloved herbal oxymel: Fire Cider. You’ll learn the history and tradition behind this warming preparation, the principles behind creating a well-balanced recipe, and you’ll leave with your own jar of Fire Cider ready to continue infusing at home.
Come join the fun and discover the many ways vinegar can become a valuable tool in your home herbal practice!
