Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Creator of The Alexandre Centre for Children's Health
Dr. Shareen Ismail, MD is a specialist in pediatric emergency medicine. She graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2007. She completed a three-year pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010 and an additional three-year fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2013. She practiced pediatric emergency medicine at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida until 2018 before moving back to her hometown of Syracuse. Dr. Ismail specializes in providing care for critically ill and injured children and has over 16 years of experience in the medical field. She is well published in the field of pediatrics and received the national fellow award from the American College of Emergency Medicine in 2013 for her innovative application of video discharge educational care for common childhood illness. Areas of interest include performing procedures and natural cures for children. She is a single mom to a sweet 6-year-old boy for whom this children’s health centre is dedicated to. She believes every parent should have a partner in their child’s doctor.

Luke Marshall has been working with clients at his holistic practice, Naturopathic Resources, in Hamilton, NY for over a decade. He has a master's degree in applied clinical nutrition from New York Chiropractic College. Luke is trained in Manual Therapy Applications for Pediatrics and integrates specific treatment techniques for common visceral restrictions to give children the best possible opportunity to begin their lives in a healthier, more confident state.
He is also trained in CranioSacral Applications for pediatrics. He looks for the root causes of the onset of symptoms in children, and works to restore CranioSacral, visceral, and circadian rhythms.
Luke provides clinical nutrition consultations, soft tissue manipulation, therapeutic clay packs for old scar trauma interference fields, and acupressure.

Jonelle Lafian, ND
Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Jonelle Lafian, ND specializes in helping children with developmental, chronic, metabolic, environmental, gastrointestinal, autoimmune, and many other health challenges. She considers the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social conditions that impact health and well-being. This holistic perspective allows her to address health problems at their root causes. Dr. Lafian’s philosophy upholds confidence in the body’s innate ability to heal itself when obstacles are removed. Her recommendations may include nutritional and herbal interventions as well as lifestyle modifications.
Dr. Lafian received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the University of Bridgeport School of Naturopathic Medicine in Bridgeport, CT. She is a member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and is committed to life-long learning. Her career in the health professions began in 2007 when she worked as a registered dental hygienist in Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor degree in Exercise Science at Georgia State University in Atlanta and completed an internship in strength and conditioning. Dr. Lafian’s background provides her a unique perspective. Her motivation for working with children is to help them establish a strong foundation to support optimal health for the rest of their lives.

Navigating emotions, stress, and sensory overwhelm can feel challenging—especially for children and teens who experience ADHD, trauma-related responses, or nervous system dysregulation.
As a somatic wellness specialist, Jeff combines science-backed techniques along with a holistic, compassionate, individualized approach to help children strengthen emotional resilience, improve focus, and develop practical self-regulation tools.
With expertise in trauma-informed care, personal healing and study with the Polyvagal Institute and Vagus Nerve society; Jeff integrates gentle somatic practices, vagus nerve stimulation, and breathwork exercises that promote calm and balance.
By working with the body's natural rhythms, these practices help children shift from reactive states—such as anxiety, frustration, or sensory overload—into grounded, confident self-awareness.
In his free time, Jeff enjoys going on outdoor adventures with his wife and two teenage children.
Jennifer Waters, LAC

Jennifer Waters is a Diplomat & Licensed Acupuncturist, Certified Arvigo Therapist and Photobiomodulation Light Therapist. Her passion is working with teens to eradicate the root cause of imbalances in the body and emotions.
Jennifer has had the privilege of working in private practice with countless women, men, and children for over 20 years. She combines phototherapy with targeted nutrition to create a strong body and resilient mind. She offers telehealth sessions, weekly emotional resilience classes and by-appointment in-person sessions.
Taylor Foster, CFNC, HPP
Child Nutrition
As a Board Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, Taylor takes nutrition very seriously, especially when it comes to our kids. She can show you how to support and nourish your child's body and brain by using food as medicine.
As a mom to an almost pre-teen, Taylor is a master at swapping junk food out for nutrient dense food and actually making it taste great! She is a great resource for kid-friendly supplement suggestions, better food options, meal plans, and even done-for-you meal prep. She offers both Zoom and in-person sessions at the Alexandre Centre.
Taylor takes a holistic approach to managing illness with food choices. She can carefully curate menu options that are particularly beneficial for your child's ailments.
Jennifer Majesky-Pike

Jennifer has always had a deep passion for emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. As a Usui Reiki Master and a Karuna Reiki Master, Jennifer uses a gentle approach to help children relax, improve energy levels, increase self-awareness, and support healing. Jennifer is a kind and bubbly soul who listens and uses her gifts of energy work, breathwork, and intuition to help your child feel safe and become balanced.
Jennifer has worked in the human services field for over 15 years, completing her Bachelor's Degree from Nazareth University. Jennifer has extensive training and experience working with individuals with histories of trauma and abuse as well as individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Neurodivergence, and other varying abilities. When Jennifer is not helping others, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Renee McLain

Renee McLain is the creator of Center of Grace, a holistic wellness & retreat center in Manlius, NY. She has 30 years of experience using various techniques, including Somatic Respiratory Integration (SRI), NLP, The Body Breath Connection, meditation, and sound. Having raised four children of her own, Renee understands that sometimes it’s hard for children to put their feelings into words. She helps navigate the sensations in the body and give it a voice. Renee believes in whole family health and works to guide parents and children alike through the benefits of breathwork.

Sara is an Occupational Therapist & Yoga Instructor. She graduated in 2019 from Gannon University with Masters in Occupational Therapy and is a Certified Holistic Health Coach through Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Sara has Yoga Teacher Certification through the Boston School of Yoga and is a certified Children's Yoga Teacher through Yoga Renew. She also is a Certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher. She worked in early intervention and outpatient pediatric clinical rotation at Integration Station in Charlotte, NC.
She has experience working at Upstate Golisano's Children's Hospital in the acute care and outpatient settings, School-Based Occupational Therapist for the West Genesee School District, Early Intervention pediatrics in Syracuse and Fayetteville homes, and daycares.

Sheila Clonan, Ph.D.
Child Psychology
Sheila Clonan, Ph.D., is a New York State Licensed Psychologist and also a permanently certified School Psychologist. She received her Ph.D. from Syracuse University and was a school psychologist in the Syracuse City school district for nearly a decade before leaving to direct the Syracuse University Reading Research project. There she had the opportunity to work with a renowned expert in early reading acquisition and dyslexia. Dr. Clonan has both studied and mentored with the Yale Child Study Center, investigating the influence of intensive remediation in reading on the functional organization of the brain for second and third grade students with reading disabilities.
After completion of her research project, Dr. Clonan joined the faculty at SU where she chaired the Master's program in Learning Disabilities, directed the Adult Psychoeducational Clinic and taught courses in learning disabilities and reading. She left SU for a position in the Educational Studies department at Colgate University, where she taught courses in inclusive and special education, neurodiversity, literacy instruction and intervention and educational psychology for ten years before establishing her private practice. She is also a trained Cogmed coach.
Sheila's professional interests are in the science of reading, dyslexia and other disabilities, attention deficit disorder, neurodiversity, executive function coaching and inclusive education. In 2010, Dr. Clonan developed the Oz Project, an inclusive workshop that promotes social development and belonging through drama and music for children of all abilities.
A long-time advocate of children with special needs and their families, Dr. Clonan founded the CAPAS advocacy and support group to assist and educate parents in advocating for their children with special needs. Under her leadership the group worked with the local school district and school board to effect positive change toward more inclusive schooling. She is a founding board member of The Reading League, former Vice Chair of The Reading League's National Board, and current board member. Dr. Clonan's current research and professional development interests focus largely on effective assessment and intervention for dyslexia and she is lead author on an upcoming book on evidence-based assessment for dyslexia.
Dr. Clonan and her husband live outside Syracuse, NY with their four children, who each exhibit unique profiles of learning, cognitive, and psychological gifts and challenges that keep her professional skills sharp.

Renee is a whiz at keeping track of our team and your family! A true gem for our Centre, Renee brings a warm heart and gentle touch for your family's needs and concerns. As a mom of two children herself, she understands how stressful having a sick child can be. Renee will always welcome and support you in any way you need! Her skills and attention to detail are an indispensable component to our day to day operations. Renee has over 25 years of office administration in the medical field, and will welcome you to the Alexandre Centre at reception. If you can't find her playing with children in our waiting area, she is hard working behind the scenes to make sure only the best care is delivered to your family.
Renee enjoys golfing, playing pitch, and game nights with family and friends.

Renee has a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Nutrition from Cornell University, and an Associates Degree in Nursing from Crouse Hospital College of Nursing. She has over 10 years experience in pediatric primary care and elementary school settings. Renee has experience with medication and health care management of a variety of wellness and disease states, including but not limited to Type 1 Diabetes, asthma, and allergies.
Renee is passionate about educating parents on the effects of toxins and promoting a healthy wellness lifestyle.
Maria Petersen, RN
Registered Nurse
Maria has been a registered nurse for 5 years, and is passionate about holistic health and addressing the root causes of all illness. She educates parents and helps them achieve optimal health for their families through diet and lifestyle.
In her free time, Maria enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, cooking, baking, and gardening.
Courtney Trueworthy, RN
Pediatric Registered Nurse
Courtney graduated from SUNY Brockport in 2017 with a degree in Health Science and then 2018 with her bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked briefly in labor and delivery and then started at Golisano Children's in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Nephrology in 2019.
Courtney has just over 5 years of experience in pediatric hematology and oncology. She have a vast knowledge of pediatric illness and diseases with a focus in pediatric cancer diagnoses and treatment. She loves learning more about holistic health and wellness and finding alternative solutions to illnesses; as well as how everyday factors effect our health.
Outside of work she is currently enjoying planning her 2025 wedding to her fiancé Evan, outdoor activities, and spending time with their cat, Bruce.
Michelle McKay, RN, RRT
Neonatal & Pediatric Respiratory Therapy
Michelle graduated in 2005 from Northeastern University with a degree in Cardiopulmonary and Exercise Sciences with a concentration in Respiratory Therapy. She has worked in Boston, MA in a Sleep Laboratory, Rehabilitation Hospital, and NICU. Michelle graduated nursing school in 2011 from Monroe Community College and has worked in Rochester as a NICU nurse and was a PICU float nurse. She then moved to Syracuse, NY and worked in Respiratory Therapy in NICU.
Kiersten Peterson, RN
Registered Nurse
Kiersten Peterson is a registered nurse and has been working as a Step Down ICU nurse for the past 8 years. She graduated from Onondaga Community College in 2016 with her nursing degree & started travel nursing in Florida shortly after. Kiersten’s favorite thing about being a nurse is getting to spend time & learn about her patients! She is originally from Cazenovia and loves spending her free time with her kids and doing Pilates.
Mary Walker, RN
Registered Nurse
Mary became a registered nurse in 2018 and has always been drawn to pediatric and maternal care. She started her career at Golisano Children’s Hospital, then spent two years in maternal and newborn home care with Nascentia Health. Mary also worked as a travel nurse at Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital before returning to upstate New York, where she gained experience in private care and pediatric surgery.
Over time, Mary developed a strong passion for holistic wellness and began to see health through a different lens—one that considers the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Jason See completed his Bachelors as a x-ray tech in 2007 in Brisbane, Australia. He completed post grad (Grad Dip) medical ultrasound in 2012 and has worked in both public and private hospitals. Jason is ARDMS accredited and has a special interest in MSK Ultrasound. In his free time, he coaches light high school soccer and has a purple belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Jessica, a Chittenango native, earned a Bachelors of Science from Canisius University and then a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Utica University. Jessica has over 21 years of experience with neonatal and pediatric scans. She is comfortable in both hospital and outpatient settings. In her free time, Jessica enjoys time with her family entrenched in nature!

Yuliya Snyder, MD.

Dr. Snyder’s journey into the world of medicine began at the age of 15, driven by a passion for both the art and science of healing. She graduated with honors in nursing before earning her MD, also with honors, from the renowned Kharkiv State Medical University, one of Ukraine’s oldest and most prestigious medical schools. Following her medical degree in 2005, she pursued a two-year Master’s program in Medicine, coupled with a pediatric internship in Kharkiv.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to the United States, where she completed her Child Neurology training at the University of Rochester in 2013, followed by a Neuromuscular Fellowship in 2014. Dr. Snyder is distinguished by her four board certifications: Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology, Headache Medicine, Epilepsy, and Neuromuscular Medicine.
Dr. Snyder is an Assistant Professor at SUNY Upstate, where she is committed to advancing the field of neurology and educating the next generation of medical professionals. Outside of her practice, she enjoys biking, swimming, and cherishing time with her husband and four children—three sons and a daughter.
